Newport Polo is pleased to announce Roger Williams Park Zoo as the beneficiary of this year's International Polo Charity Ball, dubbed the Safari Ball. The annual black tie charity gala will be hosted by the Newport Polo Club on Friday, Aug. 1 at 7pm in Rosecliff, one of Newport’s legendary Bellevue Avenue mansions.
Roger Williams Park Zoo will be the recipient of the gala's silent and live auction proceeds “to raise awareness of the importance of the conservation of the world’s endangered species and protection of their habitats” announced Jeremy Goodman, Executive Director, Roger Williams Park Zoo. “Roger Williams Park Zoo reaches over half a million people with its environmental education programs and actively supports or directs conservation initiatives throughout New England and around the world.” For more info, visit www.rwpzoo.org.
“The Safari Ball will be our 14th annual International Polo Charity Ball, and will fête guests of honor, the Kenyan Polo Team, with a Safari theme” adds Dan Keating, Newport Polo Club President.
The black tie gala is the social highlight of Newport’s polo season each summer, raising thousands of dollars each year for worthy civic and charitable causes in the community and beyond.
Early-bird supporters can reserve discounted tickets through June 15th. Reservations / Info while supplies last - the event is an annual Sellout.
The gala weekend festivities include the ball on Friday night, followed on Saturday by the USA vs. Kenya polo match, a highlight in the Newport International Polo Series, and will conclude with a New England Lobsterbake served field side at the polo grounds. Tickets to all the associated events are available while supplies last, through the Polo Box Office online and at the field-side Pro Shop (open on Saturdays during the polo matches, beginning on June 7).
