The social highlight of Newport’s 2011 summer polo season will be the 11th annual International Polo Charity Ball on Friday, Aug. 5th  at one of Newport’s most glamorous mansions ~ Rosecliff.

The black tie affair welcomes guests of honor, the Chilean Polo Team.  The evening's theme, Con Mucho Gaucho celebrates the legend of the South American cowboy and all things Chilean.  Formal attire calls for inspired black tie.  A reception with cocktails & hors d’oeuvres will entice bidders
to indulge on a fabulous silent auction presented on the terrace, overlooking a breathtaking landscape & seascape.  A seated, gourmet experience of Chilean culinary delights will follow, created by Blackstone Caterers.  Live Latin roots rock by the one and only Santa Mamba will headline the entertainment for dancing the night away in the grand ballroom.

Early-bird discounted are available through June 15th . The popular summer gala, now in its eleventh
year, attracts enthusiasts and polo players from the US and abroad for a weekend of fun in the glamorous seaside resort.  Festivities continue the following day, Sat., Aug. 6th with a polo match between USA and Chile in the Newport International Polo Series, Presented by Forty 1° North, at 5pm.  The match will conclude with an award ceremony and an authentic New England lobsterbake prepared
by legendary McGrath Clambakes.

Waterfront lodging is available at Forty 1° North in Newport for out of town visitors: call 401-846-8018 or http://www.41north.com
