Individualism is back on the runway for spring/summer 2015. What better way to express personal style than the Brazilian theme of Ball Carnaval? The black tie affair gives ample fuel for fashionistas and attendees to impress with their most creative evening wear yet.
Carnaval is known throughout the world for it’s extravagant costumes featuring feathered headdresses and wings, beaded tops and bottoms, bright eye makeup, and lots of skin. Although a tricky theme to dress up, hopefully these few tips will leave you feeling confident and intrigued to challenge your creativity.
Patterns, patterns and more patterns covered models as they strut down the catwalk in some of today's main fashion dictating shows these past months. If you’re someone who loves to express themselves through multiple colors at a time, try going for a leafy and tropical theme gown. The more patterns – the better!
Another style to try is a fully beaded garment. Kendall Jenner stepped out in a full beaded Calvin Klein gown at this year's Met Gala, and beads have since taken over dresses, skirts, tops, and purses. If you have beads – you’re all set!
Show off that summer tan! If you’re more on the daring side and interested in showing a little skin, cut-out gowns are continuing to make their way into today’s hottest looks. Even for a subtle look, you can still find sleek, elegant gowns with tasteful hints of skin.
If you’re going for a solid color ensemble, try heating it up with lots of accessories to get that Brazilian flare. This year’s designers encourage all tribal bangles, feathered necklaces, and even graphic heels. Any of these vibrant and stand out pieces can make the simplest looks pop without going out of your comfort zone. (Want to steal the show? Go all out in a Carnaval inspired headdress or feathered wings. We dare you. Aaaaariba!)
If you’re anything like myself, you’ll want to accept the real challenge for this years gala - It’s all about the makeup! Runway models are sporting bright eyeliner, vibrant eye shadow, and even gold dusted eyebrows. Fashion is going beyond the lines of fabric and making it’s way onto our skin, and the possibilities are endless.
The bottom line: Just have fun with it - we already know you're fabulous! We can't wait to see you and your outfits at this years Ball Carnaval on Friday, August 7. See you there!
