The inaugural Amateur Cup arena polo tournament took place on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, contested by three teams in a round robin tournament format combining young polo club members, Brown varsity & alumni players, and adult polo school participants for a great competitive polo experience.
Round One: Brian McCormick, Courtney Sutton and Alexander King (in Navy) faced off against Amy Garrison, Laurel Howe and Suleman Iddrissu (in Red) for two chukkers. Navy had a strong first chukker, taking the lead 3-1, with two penalty shot conversion points and a field goal, to Red's single field goal. In the second period, Navy scored four additional points to Red's pair of field goals for a 7-3 Navy win.
Round Two: Navy's Courtney Sutton, Brian McCormick and Alexander King took on Skander Jabbes, Patrick Rosanelli and Sam Clemens (in White) for the second round. Navy posted a narrow advantage of 3 goals to 2 after the first period of play. White came out stronger in the second period, with 4 additional goals to Navy's 1 point, for a 6-4 victory.
Round Three: White's Skander Jabbes, Patrick Rosanelli and Sam Clemens faced Red's Amy Garrison, Laurel Howe and Suleman Iddrissu. White held a 1-point lead after the first period, with a score of 3-2. In the second chukker, White continued to outscore Red 5 goals to 3 goals, for a 8-5 win.
White was determined the tournament winner, based on its Win/Loss ratio.
