2019 Season Pass Sale Begins on Oct. 1, 2018
Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2016
Newport Polo has joined a united effort of businesses & individuals helping the Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Community Center in Newport to restock its pantry, which presently will run out within the next two months. In addition to pledging a cash donation, Newport Polo has launched a food collection drive for the month of October at its busy instructional arena facility and at its October events.
Newport Polo’s campaign to help the independent non-profit organization will seek & collect contributions of foods during its Autumn arena polo season & weekly polo lesson program and annual awards night.
MLK Center is supported primarily by grants & donations, unlike other state & federally-supported agencies, and serves as a critical safety net for hundreds of families in Newport County. Its kitchen, in partnership with local growers, provides healthy food that is otherwise unaffordable for many people, distributed through multiple programs. In addition to providing a Food Pantry, MLK delivers food to the homebound hungry, serves breakfast every day at the Center, as the county’s only daily mealsite, and provides counseling & nutrition education by a registered staff dietitian, and offers cooking and wellness classes.

Donations are also accepted at the MLK Center Mon-Fri at their Loading Dock from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. Ring the buzzer to the left. The Center can be contacted at 401-846-4828 x102 or firstname.lastname@example.org and for more information: mlkccenter.org
Newport Polo has supported MLK as the 2011 beneficiary of its annual summer charity gala.
