Match Info:

Season 27 of the NBC10 Newport International Polo Series, Presented by BMW will conclude with the ultimate showdown, a Battle of the Sexes, when the Newport Women take on the Newport Men on September 29th, 2018 at 4pm.

“We've had a lot of great polo this season, and a highlight has been witnessing women's polo come of age in Newport,” explained Dan Keating, captain and founder of the Polo Series. "Our Women's East Coast Open demonstrated that women players can be every bit as talented and competitive as their male counterparts, and a showdown is inevitable."

The Finals will feature the timeless rivalry between Men and Women in a 6-chukker Autumn match. “This will be only the second time in our history that we've lined up a Battle of the Sexes, and it could become the players' most-awaited annual contest.”

In 1993, the Newport International Polo Series staged its original Battle of the Sexes in a fundraising campaign for endangered species, with celebrity polo players including an all women's team from California led by actress Stephanie Powers, and Ron Ferguson among the male notables.  The large crowd on hand also witnessed the famous Cheetah Run across the polo field.

During this season's rivalry, a weekly Door Prize drawing will award a handsome set of designer sunglasses from Opt Eye Boutique to one lucky winner, and our contest for the Best Tailgate will reward a coveted prize and jumbotron moment of fame, courtesy of Stella Artois. Specialty vendors and concessionaires will be present in the Hospitality village at the polo grounds, including the Twisted Pony Cocktail Bar, Horseshoe Wine Bar, Newport Polo Pro Shop, and several other unique specialty vendors and gourmet food truck concessionaires.

For specific details about the players, concessions & amenities for this match, plus venue information and other details, sign up to receive the Gameday Scorecard on Saturday, by private subscription: https://bit.ly/2zrIldq.  Stay current with all 2018 & next season announcements, latest news & event invitations, and more by subscription to our monthly Emagazine (sign up).  Both subscriptions are private and spam free.

Dating back more than 130 years in Newport, the polo matches are one of Newport’s grandest & most popular traditions, a living legacy from the Gilded Age, and open to the public.  Audiences of several thousand spectators enjoy the contests against international teams, as well as teams representing major US cities, playing against the home team every Sat, June thru Sept. at 5 PM / 4 PM in Sept.

Info about the Polo Series, our venue, concessions & amenities, and other information can be found on the About Newport Polo page.  RAIN DATE: If a regularly scheduled match is canceled prior to its start (due to weather/field conditions), the match will be postponed to the following Sunday at the same time.  All original polo match tickets & seating reservations will be transferred to the rain date.  For more details on our ticket policies, please follow this link.  In inclement weather, always check the Match Status recording on our Info Hotline (401) 846-0200 x2 and for Alerts published on our website, both of which are updated with any status change for the impending match.

Season subscriptions to the Newport International Polo Series are available for individual lawn or Pavilion seating, reserved tables, corporate tailgates & VIP lounge tables to take in all 18 weeks of polo action.
