Newport Polo is pleased to announce that its 18th annual International Polo Charity Ball, Midnight in Marrakesh will benefit the conservation and education efforts of Save The Bay, and celebrates the return of the Moroccan Polo Team.
The annual sell-out event draws 400 generous and fun-loving attendees to make a red-carpet entrance in colorful Moroccan black-tie adaptation for a night inspired by Moroccan culture from couture fashion, to lively rhythms, exquisite gourmet cuisine & mixology, and heart-warming philanthropy. Proceeds from the gala's silent & live auctions and donations will support Save The Bay’s mission, to protect and improve Narragansett Bay.
"We are honored and grateful to be selected as the beneficiary of the Newport Polo Club's Charity Ball auction this year," said Save The Bay Executive Director Jonathan Stone. "The incredible cleanup of Narragansett Bay over the last nearly 50 years has truly been a community effort, relying on the support and involvement of countless individuals, businesses, and groups that understand the value of the Bay on our local economy and lifestyles. The Newport Polo Club is among these organizations, and we thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to keep our Bay clean and healthy for all."
Since 1970, Save The Bay has been dedicated to conserving our community’s most precious resource, Narragansett Bay. Save The Bay has developed a committed constituency for the Bay, and has watched over the activities and programs of the government and the citizenry that degrade the environmental quality of the Bay, basin, and watershed. Save The Bay provides educational opportunities for children and adults to explore the Bay, fostering an understanding and a sense of personal responsibility for the resource. Through vigorous advocacy, the Bay, once choked by raw sewage and dying a slow death from industrial toxins, is now making a strong comeback.
“We are impassioned to support this dynamic advocate, dedicated to preserving the coastline and waters, on which our state largely depends, and from which future generations will benefit,” comments Newport Polo President, Dan Keating. “Emerging new threats to the health of our waters makes this a critical time to rally around Save The Bay.”
The much-anticipated evening will begin with a pre-gala Cocktail Meet & Greet with the Moroccan Polo Team at its team headquarters at Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina. Then, on to the main event at the famed Rosecliff mansion. Nearly ¾ sold out already, reservations and full details for Midnight in Marrakesh are available now.
Weekend festivities continue on Saturday, August 4th as Morocco challenges USA in the Newport International Polo Series, presented by BMW, at 5pm. Spectators will be treated to a thrilling 2-hour contest, followed by the annual Lobsterbake for a delicious conclusion to the celebration. Polo match and Après Polo tickets will go on sale on March 15th. Visit Schedule/Tickets for all upcoming events.
