Newport Polo's preseason interscholastic Boot Camp runs Tuesday through Friday, with resident instructor Minnie Keating. Open to ages 13 and up, students will learn everything from tacking & grooming, and horsemanship to polo rules, and riding for polo. Of course, each day ends with team chukkers! All skill levels are welcome.
America's oldest polo club is still at the forefront of introducing the 3,000-year-old sport to newcomers on various levels of enjoyment. Newport Polo is reputed as a leading instructional polo program by the United States Polo Association (USPA), and is expanding its lesson initiatives this year, for new players to Discover Polo!

Newport Polo's Lesson horses are of the finest thoroughbred caliber & training, and professional grade polo equipment is provided. Camps and lessons are conducted in small group classes, to provide individual attention to each student’s progress and to practice newly learned skills in scrimmages. Directions to Newport Polo’s private equestrian training facility in Portsmouth are provided upon appointment.
“Proficient riding experience is required to participate in interscholastic polo,” explained Dan Keating, President of Newport Polo.
The summer months are an ideal time to learn, with a long season of favorable weather for many opportunities to practice and improve one's skills.
