Newport Polo is pleased to name Dr. Margaux Buchanan and Michel Nseir the 2018 Polo Gala Ambassadors representing the Newport Polo Club, host of Midnight in Marrakesh.
Dr. Margaux Buchannan is the official team vet and an accomplished polo player. Margaux came to Newport in 2015 after a stint on the west coast and quickly became a respected member of the polo community. Margaux is frequently seen field-side tending to the equine athletes, running equine wellness clinics for club members, and on the field as a top contender in Newport's lineup.
Michel Nseir arrived in Newport in 2008, making his first foray into polo. Affectionately known as "Mad Mike," Michel has become a beloved member of the polo community, seen regularly on the Saturday field and about in Newport entertaining the visiting teams. Michel hails from Dubai, UAE where he works for a software development firm, spending his summers in Newport.
"We are delighted to support this annual initiative of the Newport Polo Club, and encourage the participation of the polo community in spirited auction bidding to benefit Save The Bay's conservation and education efforts," commented the ambassadors.
Newport’s polo season will reach its social highlight this summer with Midnight in Marrakesh, the Newport Polo Club's 18th annual International Polo Charity Ball on Friday, August 3 at Rosecliff, one of Newport’s famed Bellevue Avenue mansions. The annual black-tie gala will fête guests of honor, the Moroccan Polo Team, with a bold, Moroccan theme to inspire its menu, decor, music, and couture for an evening of fun and generous support for Save The Bay, a leader in the cleanup and conservation of our community's most precious resource, Narragansett Bay. Learn more about Save The Bay here.
The black-tie gala is an annual sell-out event, drawing nearly 400 attendees for an evening that will begin with a pre-gala Cocktail Meet & Greet with the Moroccan Team, at the new Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina, then on to Rosecliff for a reception on the terrace, where guests can contend for enticing Silent Auction items, and enjoy cocktails & hors d’oeuvres, overlooking breathtaking garden & water views of Rhode Island Sound. A seated gourmet dinner created by Blackstone Caterers will be presented in the gilded ballroom and salon. Dance the night away to live entertainment 'til the stroke of midnight. The odyssey's finale ascends to the Skybar atop Clarke Cooke House for the last dance.
Tickets to Midnight in Marrakesh are sold out. To receive waitlist notification, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Those who missed out on attending the gala may still join the teams for the meet and greet reception at Gurney's, black-tie optional.
