The 2018 spring arena polo season concluded with the inaugural USPA Northeast Circuit Amateur Cup arena polo tournament on April 27-29 with 6 teams competing from the Northeast region. Congratulations to the winning team, Ladder Hill comprised of Branden Van Loon, Aga Morgan and Doug Anderson who became the first to hoist the perpetual trophy. An Album of photos from the tournament is published on the Newport Polo Facebook fan page. The 2018 arena polo season of competition will continue in October, after the outdoor season.
Competition consisted of two 4-chukker matches each day, with prizes awarded to the winners, including Best Playing Pony Nemo, owned by tournament MVP Jenna Davis. The tournament was officiated by professional umpires from the United States Polo Association.
Arena Polo is thriving all across the US, at all levels of play, from professionals to beginners, attracting more and more players as a fun and flexible way to get started in the sport, get fit for the outdoor grass season, extend one's annual polo competition season and develop polo skills more rapidly.
Newport Polo offers Arena Polo lessons, seasonal club chukkers and tournaments starting in Spring (March) through Augumn into December, with opportunities for middle schoolers, Interscholastic & Intercollegiate players, and adults.
