Newport Polo is pleased to announce its 20th annual International Polo Charity gala, the Bon Voyage Ball on Friday, August 7th, 2020 with guests of honor, the Dominican Republic polo team. Embark at the famed Rosecliff mansion for an escapade to the celebrated island haven.
Our Captain and Gala Ambassadors will receive over 400 guests for one of the most anticipated social events of the summer to benefit a worthy cause, soon to be named.
The star-lit Caribbean fantasy will come to life with influences from the vibrant Dominican culture, including live music, iconic fashion, gourmet cuisine, exotic libations and top deck decor to experience the Caribbean's #1 port of call. Attire calls for cruise elegant, and who better to turn to for classic style than America's beloved Oscar de la Renta, the DR's most famous son, to swing his signature tassel earrings or be draped from bow to stern.
Tickets are available online now.
A pre-gala confetti send-off reception with the Dominican Republic polo team is in the works at a pier to be named, to launch the evening's festivities before the crossing to Rosecliff for sunset ocean views from the lido, enticing hors d'oeuvres, specialty themed cocktails and an exciting Silent Auction with a curated collection of unique items and exclusive gifts offered to the highest bidder. Guests will adjourn to the gilded ballroom for the Captain's Table seated dinner and Live Auction offering up the evening's buried treasures. The band will strike up for dancing 'till the midnight horn, with tenders departing for a final excursion to the Skybar, the legendary beacon atop the Clarke Cooke House.
Festivities will continue the following day with USA vs. Dominican Republic for the third time in Newport International Polo Series lore, on Saturday, August 8th at 5PM. The exciting 6-chukker polo match will also feature prizes awarded for the Best Tailgate and a weekly Door Prize Drawing, concluding the match with the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Toast and Trophy Presentation. The evening will end on a high note with an autograph signing to glad-hand the players followed by the highly anticipated annual Lobsterbake (by separate RSVP).
Now in its 20th year, the International Polo Charity Ball supports the community's most timely causes, selecting a new beneficiary each year. Nominations are in final consideration for 501-c-3s under the Gala Committee's criteria. In nearly 3 decades, Newport Polo's charitable activities have helped raise over $1.5 million dollars through the Polo Ball, plus annual Benefit Matches (May 30th and July 19th in 2020) and countless ticket donations to the Newport International Polo Series.
