With the arrival of an early spring, the ponies are exercising outdoors already, much to the anticipation of polo students that have eagerly awaited the end of the winter recess for the start of spring polo lessons.
Newport Polo invites beginners and returning polo students to join in its spring lesson program, which commences this weekend, offering the culmination of over 20 years of experience in providing mounted instruction for the casual equine hobbiest to the aspiring polo player to the intermediate player moving up to a higher handicap.

Polo lessons take place outdoors at Newport Polo's private arena in Portsmouth (not located at Glen Farm) during the spring, summer and autumn, by appointment.
Group instruction is the ideal format to apply newly learned skills within the context of actual play. Group sizes are small (max. of 6 students) to allow for individual attention. Lessons proceed at the pace of the students. Students may begin at any time, and will be metriculated into the appropriate class. Private lessons are also available.
Each lesson includes an hour of mounted instruction and drills, learning & practicing the rules and mechanics of playing polo. Lessons conclude with a scrimmage. Students are to arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the lesson, for horse assignments. Horse & polo equipment are provided. Suggested attire for students is layered outerwear, boot w/1" heel, and safety helmet.
