Bal du Soleil Ambassadors Named

Date: Monday, April 4, 2016

Newport Polo is pleased to announce the 2016 Ambassadors for Bal du Soleil: from the Board of newportFILM, Andrea van Beuren; and from the Newport Polo Club, Heather and Roger Souto.

Andrea van Beuren is the Founder and Artistic Director of newportFILM and also sits on the Board of Directors. She recently started Sustainable Films and through this entity she has produced three films, Alive Inside: A Story of Music and Memory, Emptying the Skies, and Endless Abilities, and has several new projects underway.  Andrea is a member of the Sundance Institute’s Catalyst Initiative and she also sits on the Board of the van Beuren Charitable Foundation, based in Newport, Rhode Island.

Heather Souto is one of Newport Polo’s most exciting and talented players, bringing a lifetime of horsemanship and competition to the field, and is a leading devotee of polo club charitable initiatives. "Newport Polo and newportFILM both have a unique relationship with our community by connecting us to the greater world around us, and bringing it closer.  Be a part of our collaboration, by participating in Bal du Soleil on Aug. 5 to support newportFILM," adds Souto.

Newport’s polo season will reach its social highlight this summer with Bal du Soleil, the Newport Polo Club's 16th annual International Polo Charity Ball on Friday, August 5 at Rosecliff, one of Newport’s famed Bellevue Avenue mansions.  The annual black tie gala will fête guests of honor, the French Polo Team, with a French Riviera theme, to support newportFILM, presenter of year–round programming and dialogue on the issues that matter in our lives.

The sell-out event draws nearly 400 attendees for an evening that will begin with a pre-gala Cocktail Meet & Greet with the French Team at the chic Forty 1° North, where the team will be headquartered, then on to Rosecliff for a reception on the terrace, where guests can contend for enticing Silent Auction items, and enjoy cocktails & hors d’oeuvres, overlooking breathtaking garden & water views of Rhode Island Sound.  A seated gourmet dinner created by Blackstone will be presented in the (air conditioned) gilded ballroom.  Dance the night away to live entertainment til the stroke of midnight. The odyssey's finale ascends to the Skybar atop Clarke Cooke House for a last dance.

Tickets are selling fast.  Early-bird discount available through June 15.  Reservations.

The celebration continue the following day at the Newport International Polo Series where the featured match is USA vs. France on Aug. 6, concluding with an authentic New England Lobsterbake.  Tickets to the polo match and Lobsterbake can be purchased online.
