There's a lot to look forward to this Saturday, starting with the return of Morocco for it's the second challenge against USA. The Moroccan national team, sanctioned by King Mohammed VI, will be defending the perpetual cup that it claimed in its 2016 debut. Veteran team captain, Nour-Dean Anakar will lead a new group of challengers, including Imad Ounnisi, Taissir Kadiri, and Karim Dref in the hopes of returning home with the trophy once again.
Jumbotron Debut: A first in polo, witness the activation of the new Gallo|Thomas Insurance Jumbotron! The 30 ft. high video wall is replacing the current scoreboard for a new multimedia experience, set to go live on Saturday.
BMW Experience: The Rhode Island BMW Centers will be showcasing the newest addition to the BMW stable, plus visitors can enjoy a frozen lemonade, relax in the field side lounge, and take home a special gift.
Vendor Village: Enjoy an exclusive field-side shopping experience with Brahmin. Experience the difference of Flint & Flame's high-carbon German stainless steel knives and luxury lifestyle range. Vist Seeside Designs and Haverhill Collection for fine jewelry and accessories. Have a field-side consultation for portrait, family, special event, equestrian photography and more with Areti Photo. In honor of Team Morocco, visit the Henna Tent for a traditional application. And, of course, visit the Pro Shop for the latest team gear and souvenirs.
Horseshoe Wine Bar: This week's tasting will feature refreshing summer wines; a bright California Chardonnay, a zippy Sauvignon Blanc, and a floral Provence Rosé, all perfect to go with the sumptuous Lobsterbake. Plus, a juicy Rosso from the Italian Veneto region. Linger for a sip of each, or stop by for a quick re-fill, with wine, beer, and soft drinks available.
Tasty Bites: Visit the on-site food trucks for walk-up concessions, including McCray's Seafood and Raw Bar for deep fried clams or oysters on the half-shell, Elwood's Dog House for mouthwatering Italian sausage and more, Hawaiin Jim's for a refreshing shave ice, Sweet B's Donuts for a tasty treat, and Tiki Jack's for a recharge with ice coffee. Don't forget about the Twisted Pony for Stella Artois on draft, Veuve Clicquot Champagne, with a signature specialty cocktail menu, wine, beer, and soft drinks. Info on all the Polo Grounds hospitality and amenities is found here.
Après Polo: As of this writing, a few tickets remain to delight in the annual New England Lobsterbake, with Teams USA and Morocco. The sumptuous meal will be expertly prepared field-side by McGrath Clamkaes, slow roasted over a bed of freshly harvested seaweed, with local seafood and produce. Advanced reservations are required, here. These tickets went on sale in March. If you did not make a reservation before they sold out this year, then please sign up to our mailing list to receive timely notifications in the future.
See you at the match!
