Newport
Polo, home of America's First Polo Club and host of the Newport International Polo
Series, is seeking a creative marketing professional with strong technical skills to join its
dynamic sporting events production team. Newport Polo's Marketing & Technology
Coordinator will provide content planning and creation, graphic design, event
management, and oversight of key technical systems. This position is ideal for a
self-motivated individual who is able to work independently, but collaboratively, and transition
from a quiet private office during the week to a lively and energetic gameday environment on
Saturdays. The Marketing & Technology Coordinator position is a full-time,
year-round role, based in-person at Newport Polo's Portsmouth, RI office.
Typical
Responsibilities Vary Seasonally, Including:
- Plan and execute PR
Campaigns & Communications with the media, fans, and members, using Newport Polo's
digital instruments: email, website, and social media;
- Manage all social
media platforms, including curating, creating, editing, and publishing new illustration +
written content; prolific activity & engagement;
- Develop written &
illustrated news & editorial content, published on nptpolo.com website and in weekly
digital eNewsletters;
- Plan and execute
regular site-wide content updates for nptpolo.com;
- Develop content and
graphic designs for Newport Polo print collateral including Season Program, Event Tickets,
Mailer / Rack Cards, Season Passes, and in-venue Promotional Materials;
- Maintain productive
relationships with Newport Polo's media contacts and keep contact information up to
date;
- Distribute Event
information on digital platforms including external event calendars for RI tourism bureaus,
other media outlets, and event syndication platforms;
- Assist with execution
of sponsorship obligations to ensure required promotional and entertainment benefits are
received, and complete year-end sponsor reports;
- Maintain Newport Polo
photo library; compile and publish digital event albums, following photographer attribution
requirements;
- Oversee maintenance
and storage of Newport Polo electronics, including office equipment, polo venue networking
equipment, hand-held ticket scanners, two-way radios, point of sale terminals, and provide
training / technical support to users;
- Photograph Newport
Polo events occasionally, including polo games/tournaments, player meet & greets, and
charity events
- Assist with sales
administration;
- Coordinate assitance
from summer Brand Ambassador Interns, including duty assignments, and progress
monitoring;
- Assist Venue Manager
during NIPS events with primary responsibilities including troubleshooting issues with W/LAN
network, POS equipment, and other IT assets; assist with vendor and sponsor arrivals,
supervision of event team, monitoring event activities, and responding to customer service
requests;
- Contribute to
marketing of official merchandise;
- Assist with polo
tournament coordination;
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in
Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field;
- Previous
experience/internships in marketing, communications, or related field;
- Experience in
leadership roles, providing staff supervision & management is helpful;
- Expertise in Adobe
Photoshop: creating & sizing new documents in appropriate color profile for specific
applications; using basic tools: selection (magic wand, marquee, lasso, layer masking),
brush, clone stamp, healing brush, gradients, shapes, text; saving for different
applications;
- Expertise in Adobe
InDesign: creating new documents; understanding of margins and bleed; layout creation
including inserting text, images, shapes;
- Expertise in
electronic technology across all major applications including Windows, Apple, Android and
iOS; ability to troubleshoot issues with local area networks, device network connectivity;
ability to oversee office electronics;
- Proficiency in Adobe
Lightroom a plus;
- Proficiency using
Microsoft Word: ability to adjust margins, page size, columns, insert and manipulate
photos;
- Proficiency using
Microsoft Excel: ability to use basic functions including data sorting, formulas,
conditional formatting, remove duplicates;
- Valid driver’s
license;
- Must have reliable
transportation;

- Excellent written,
visual, and oral communication skills;
- Ability to work
independently while closely collaborating with the other members of the management team
across all major job functions;
- Strong copywriting,
including ability to convey written information clearly and concisely; create
attention-grabbing headlines; understanding of basic journalistic writing principles and
structure of press releases; ability to adopt brand-specific tone, and ability to
self-edit;
- Ability to generate
content ideas for social media posts, website, and eNews stories, within brand standards,
that contribute to specific marketing goals;
- Thorough knowledge of
popular and emerging social media platforms, keeping up with current trends and
features;
- Ability to create
original artwork using advanced design techniques and tools for digital and print campaigns
that fulfill specific marketing purposes within brand guidelines;
- Ability to evaluate
visual media, including photos and video, for content & quality to select for
publication;
- Strong organizational
skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet required deadlines;
- Experience using
website content management platform and ability to write basic HTML code, required on
occasion for website content management;
- Experience
participating in equestrian sports or polo is a plus;
- Experience in live
event management is a plus;
- Photography and
videography experience a plus;

Required days:
- Saturdays - Last
Saturday in May through Last Saturday in September annually
- First Friday in
August, split shift for annual Charity Ball: 9AM-1PM, 6PM-10PM
Work
Environment
Primary work location is
Newport Polo's private office, training center and outdoor arena in Portsmouth, RI. The
office is located on a working farm where horses, dogs, cats, and other animals are present, and
applicants must be comfortable being in proximity to the like. The secondary work location
is the International Polo Grounds where NIPS and other exhibition polo matches take place in the
proximity of thousands of regular weekly attendees, horses and dogs.
