We had our wedding reception at the Newport Polo Pavilion after a lovely Sunday morning ceremony at Beavertail State Park in Jamestown. The entrance to the pavilion gives a great first impression, where guests drive down a stunning tree-lined road surrounded by stone walls and green fields. There are many beautiful backdrops for photos right on the property - stone walls, white fences, horses, trees, fields, etc. We and our guests enjoyed this beautiful setting by playing lawn games during cocktail hour and partying under the tent during the reception.
Leading up to our big day, Dan and Agnes were very helpful with the planning; answering our many questions by email and meeting us at the venue multiple times. They provided the tables, chairs, bar, and sound system, so it was helpful we didn't have to rent any of that. More importantly, they assisted with all the layouts, prep work and even did sound checks! Parking is easy; there's a lot across the way, and you can park in the lawn area but we did not want the view obstructed.
We had 110 guests and there was room under the main tent for the bar, banquet, gifts/guest book table, a seated dinner, and our first dance. There was plenty of lawn area inside the pavilion fence to put our lawn games, so everyone could stay close. We originally planned to have dancing in the part of the pavilion that's outside the tent, but it rained after dinner, so we had to move a few tables to make room for a dry dance floor. The tent does have sides that can come down, but we were having so much fun that we forgot. For music we used our own playlists; there was a cord available to connect our phone to the sound system as well as charge it, and it sounded great throughout the pavilion and surrounding lawn.
This venue was convenient for the vendors. There was space behind and to the side of the pavilion so our caterers and helpers could drive right up to it. Also convenient were the two ADA ramps and a room available under the pavilion where we could store some things, or use for a dressing room. There wasn't a bathroom on site, but they recommended a rental company that provided a restroom trailer, which was more than adequate and fairly reasonable.
We would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to plan an outdoor Aquidneck Island wedding, Dan and Agnes were great, the pavilion and grounds are beautiful!
We had a wonderful time at Newport polo. the staff was professional and well organized. The table settings were beautiful and venue perfect for a gathering of family and friends the day before the wedding. Thanks to the announcer for taking the time to announce our best wishes to the couple. The vendors recommended for the hors d'oeuvres were fabulous.
We had such a great time with Newport Polo last August! My sister's bachelorette party was in Newport, RI and what better way to celebrate than going to a polo match! For many of the girls in the group, it was their first and we had so much fun! It was the perfect opportunity to get dressed up, wear fun hats and try something new! The staff could not have been more accommodating. They went above and beyond to make it extra special for my sister. Not only did they help out with premium seating, they even offered to do a shout out for the bride-to-be on the loud speaker! If you're looking to try an exciting and new experience, go to Newport Polo to catch a game!
My husband and I wanted our families to have an opportunity to get to know one another before the wedding. Having a dinner felt very cliché, and guests would likely sit around people whom they already knew. We wanted our families to get to know one another in a casual and fun way. Since my husband is an avid polo player, we decided to host a polo match at the Newport Polo Club grounds. It showcased his hobby, allowed our guests to experience something new, and gave us freedom to plan the event as we liked.
